Bringing Guns into Northern Ireland

Everyone bringing a shotgun or/and a rifle into N Ireland needs a permit/firearms certificate to do so.

If you already possess a N Ireland firearms Certificate (FAC) then you need do nothing

If you do NOT possess a N Ireland FAC then follow the instructions below

1. Holders of full GB permits - There is no fee for this.

Download the following form and fill it in; Form number 30-15 download

• If you are bringing a shotgun and NO rifle, Post/fax the completed form plus the photocopies of GB permits as required to the police - Fax No: 028 90 922946 - If you have a problem; use fax or email; firearms@psni.police.uk

• If you are bringing a rifle then you need a sponsoring letter from your host. Post it all to me, including a photocopy of your GB permit showing the particulars of the weapons that you are bringing in.

I will then forward it to the police who will return it to me and then I will post it to you.

Please note that the police would like two months notice. THINK AHEAD!!

2. Holders of other EU permits, who do not possess a GB permit

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NOW A CHARGE OF £20 + POSTAGE FOR THIS

Download the following form and fill it in; Form number 30-38. download

Fill it in but leave the signature to me as your sponsor.

Send it to me and enclose the following;

• A full copy of your firearms permit showing the details of the guns that you wish to bring.

• Your original European FirearmsPass - not a photocopy, showing the particulars of the guns that you wish to bring.

I will sign the form and forward it to the Police and it will be returned to you via me.

2. Those coming from outside the EU

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NOW A CHARGE OF £20 + POSTAGE FOR THIS

Fill it in but leave the signature to me as your sponsor.

Send it to me and enclose the following;

A full copy of your firearms permit, or

In the case of your country or state not issuing permits, please provide a "hunting permit" or a letter signed by an attorney or a Police Officer, saying that they know that you are a responsible person who possesses the gun for hunting.
